Our Mission
Gladwell, an exceptional Kenyan woman, and the driving force behind Girls Hope, has dedicated her life to rescuing thousands of young girls ages 4-17 from harmful and illegal cultural practices. Being a survivor herself, this mission is at the heart of her life’s work. Currently, she cares for over 100 incredible girls at her campus, with plans to expand homes throughout Kenya to provide sanctuary to even more.
Our mission is to create a world free from gender-based violence by collaborating with local organizations and governments to rescue girls from abusive environments. We are committed to equipping them with the tools they need to succeed, and empowering them to become active, confident citizens. In addition, we raise awareness of gender-based violence and advocate for programs that protect and empower girls around the globe
Prevailing Crisis In Kenya
In Kenya, women and children walk kilometers daily for water, risking constant wildlife attacks and human predators. But the danger isn't just lying on the road; harmful traditions like female genital mutilation (FGM) and child marriage still threaten their freedom. We are fighting for a cultural movement—educating men and empowering girls to ensure that safety and dignity are no longer a luxury, but a right to them.
A New HOPE
Girls Hope Rescue Mission works to address this issue by providing safe havens for girls affected by gender-based violence. Gladwell rescues girls from abusive environments and provides them with the necessary tools to succeed, including access to education, health care services, and legal support.
Our Projects
At Girls Hope Rescue Mission, we ensure every girl in Kenya has a safe place and the opportunity to reach her full potential. We provide critical support for those at risk of exploitation and gender-based violence, while simultaneously constructing a dedicated hospital to provide life-saving maternity care, HIV prevention, and specialized FGM reconstruction.
About Gladwell
Gladwell Wachira has bravely fought against the issues of Female Genital Mutilation (FGM), child brides, sex trafficking, and rape since she was a young girl. She has selflessly rescued over 400 girls between the ages of 4 to 17 from these culturally accepted atrocities. Now with 100+ girls on campus, she has dedicated her life to the cause of providing them with safety and a chance at a better future.
Gladwell’s mission is to provide these vulnerable children with shelter, education, medical attention, and healing. She also works hard to build bridges within the community in order to address the root causes of these issues. Gladwell’s ultimate goal is to create a society free of violence and exploitation against women and children, where everyone can prosper in peace and harmony.
